Rock Show #2 | Burning Man, Joel Osteen and Music from Bobaflex and others

We are two shows into the run of our new podcast series ROCK SHOW and I feel like we've  found ourselves. I'd say "finally", but that implies that it was a long, long search. As you make your way through this new episode,  you're going to hear something signature. You are going to hear a stream of consciousness coming through the speakers salted and peppered with  some hard rocking tunes from the likes of BOBAFLEX, ZEROKING, MILITIA VOX, EDGE OF PARADISE and others. In the same way that ROCKWIRED MAGAZINE is taking on more challenging story ideas outside of music, our new podcast is going to be a reflection of the times that we're living in and and provide a humorous look at what is going on in the world and withing the walls of ROCKWIRED MEDIA. In this episode alone we discuss the stories that we're working on for the upcoming October issue which include a 40th anniversary retrospective of the documentary classic PUMPING IRON, which made ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER an icon, re-defined masculinity and made the sport of Bodybuilding not seem so fringe-y.  We will also be discussing a story that we're working on for the upcoming issue on the MEN'S RIGHTS MOVEMENT and the women who have taken center stage. In this show you will hear interview excerpts with the movements two leading women KAREN STRAUGHAN and JANICE FIAMENGO. Outside of the goings on with ROCKWIRED MAGAZINE, the show will touch on what has been happening in the news lately, particularly with BURNING MAN and the story of JOEL OSTEEN closing the doors of his megachurch to people suffering from the flooding in Houston.

Rockwired Radio Profiles #619 - Artifas

Over the years we have profiled many artists who have taken a myriad number of paths toward rock n roll glory but SCOTTIE SOMERVILLE of ARTIFAS is probably the first one to have been a drum line coach. The progression from doing drum line to being the front man of one of the most exciting active rock bands ion the scene is a curious one but we're glad that SOMMERVILLE landed were he did. ARTIFAS first marked their territory with their debut EP ENEMY INSIDE and now they are back to secure that territory and then some with the release of their new LP INHUMAN - a collection of first rate rockers that are bound to make a huge impression on active rock radio in what remains of 2016. If having a solid release in their corner wasn't enough ARTIFAS will be hitting the road with ROCKWIRED favorites BOBAFLEX and THE VEER UNION for the ROUND 2 LIVE AND LOUD U.S. TOUR.

Rockwired Radio Profiles #594 - Bobaflex

We don't think there is a band out there who understands that rock n roll glory requires a hell of a lot of years in the salt mines more than BOBAFLEX. Since they first arrived on the scene in 2003 they have earned their reputation and notoriety the hard way with one album after another and spending years on the road building that massive audience that keeps coming back for more. This time around the brothers MCCOY and the band have given their fans and active rock listeners more bang for their buck (or however much downloads are these days) with the the release of their seventh album ANYTHING THAT MOVES which has been preceded by the blistering single MAMA DON'T TAKE MY DRUGS AWAY which is accompanied by an equally blistering music video directed by PAUL CUNNINGHAM. The fact that a living is hard to come by in this day and age is a fact that doesn't need repeating but there is something to be said for BOBAFLEX's staying power and their passion to deliver that heavy metal thunder on CD and in live performance year after year. No disintegrating music industry infrastructure can deny these guys their rightful place as rock n roll giants.
