The punk scene in New York City in the latter half of the 1970s was the greatest rock scene ever. It gave us such acts as PATTI SMITH, BLONDIE and THE RAMONES and informed the direction of rock music for the next couple of decades. In recent years gritty rock n roll has been replaced with hipster folk music and the sterile pulse of electronic dance music. BAD MARY is a band based out of Brooklyn just down the street from where all the action was forty years ago and they are picking up the rock n roll torch and making due with a raw and raucous sound that goes against the grain of what folks like PITCHFORK.COM wish to pick apart and analyze to death these days. BAD MARY'S full-throttle approach gets one hell of a showcasing on their latest EP KILLING DINOSAURS and there is not one riff or growl wasted with such punk gems as WANT WHAT I WANT, SOAPBOX and ONE MORE SONG.
